A rice dumpling is a Chinese traditional food, made of glutinous rice stuffed with different fillings and wrapped in bamboo leaves. What are the ingredients to make a tasty rice dumpling (zong zi)? There are many of them, such as : chestnut,read/green beans,Chinese black mushroom,salted eggs,dried shrimps,scallops,etc. When the rice dumping is eaten？....It's eaten during the duan wu jie/dragon boat festival,which falls on the fifth day of the fifth month of the chinese calendar.This festival is to commemorate the death of Qu Yuan, a famous and patriotic poet from the kingdom of Chu. All Chinese * almost all of them * surely know this historical story very well, because this festival have been widely celebrated by Chinese,its not for no reason,also, we learn that in school since young....so ,if any chinese who doesnt know about the origin of this festival, surf the net immediately please lol Here's its origin story
Zong zi were used to be thrown into the river for the fishes, to avoid them from eating his body.*cause he drowned himself in the river....yeah

41 y0 woman eats 20 rice dumplings in 5 minutes

It's no joke. It's somewhere in China,a company organised this festival cultural day. There were a wrapping and eating rice dumplings competitions.
A 77 y0 folk took part in it, she only wrapped 10 zong zi in 5 minutes,but the dumplings were tied tighly, they were nicely made=) Ah po said : " I wrap'em every year and I just finished wrapping the rice dumplings at home,my hands were still on"hot" to wrap 'em again* (she still wana wrap them ! see this is the duan wu jie's exciting atmosphere,feel it ,k!) Another woman(41 y0) ,Guo Ling, she ate 36 zongzi in not more than 3 hours. A truly champion award goes to her.

P/S : Elaine ! don't eat too many dumplings ! As if you really like them or have too many of them, have to balance eating it a bit la,how can u eat it everyday in a week. lol later u grow fatter arh =p
